Recap of last week's game.
Inquisition
The game started with character creation. As the only players present were Cody and I, there are only two people currently involved in the adventure.
Baron - A 3rd level Elven Illusionist.
Julius - A 3rd level Human Barbarian.
Inside a church, Baron and Julius observe a sight that would turn the stomachs of lesser men. Three men hang from the rafters, feet towards the heavens, their heads departed from their bodies. Blood pools at their feet. In the middle of the puddle, three amulets of polished brass molded into clenched fists wreathed in flame mark these men as members of the reviled Cult of the Burning Fist. Baron picks up the amulets and places them into his satchel, after wiping the blood off. The patter of rain sounds from outside, and Julius leaves the confines of the church to investigate the surrounding area. Upon reaching the rear of the church, he is beholden to another gruesome sight. To his right, in the garden, the heads of the Cult members and several other unfortunate men are placed on shafts of wood. The bodies of the other men are seen laid near an up-heaved wagon. Julius raps on the windows of the church, and Baron answers his call. They ponder the implications of these events for a while, but soon decide better of their prolonged stay. Setting off on the roads, they make for the one who sent them to the church initially.
The Protected One, the local head of the Burning Fists, does not greet them when they enter his abode. He, in the middle of a saence, hovers over a large map, eventually letting his hand rest near the largest of three nearby islands. Swatting an insect as he wakes, he then greets Baron and Julius. Grave news they bring him, and graver directions he gives them. To the island they must go, facing peril and danger in the bog and swamp. They must track down the Priest behind the murders of their brethren and those poor saps behind the church.
They get a ship, and somehow crewing it with only two people, make for the island. On the way, they are assaulted by a manic Megalodon. Well, obviously our brave duo is screwed, right? Wrong! As their ship gives up and decides to sink from all those holes in it, they narrowly miss being lunch for the great shark beast by hurling themselves to shore. Fed up with all of its prey leaving it before they can get to know him, the Megalodon offs himself.
With their supplies sinking to the fathoms of the murky waters behind them, Baron and Julius are left with little choice. They must push forward, and hope that nothing eats them before they've had enough time to thoroughly hate living .
Not wanting to adventure all cold and clammy, Baron pulls a wringer on the plane of reality and warps a hole in space-time just big enough for him and Julius to rest for a couple hours and dry off. After the spell fizzles, they set off, heading inland.
Eventually, they find the remains of an indigenous settlement, complete with thatch roof huts with no proper doors. Julius heads off in search of food, seeing as the all they've had to hold them over since their ship left for the sea-bottom was a mouthful of seawater. Spying a catfish and some manner of stupid aquatic creatures, Julius successfully bags himself some grub. Baron investigates the abandoned village, finding some relatively new footprints in the perpetually wet dirt. As Julius returns with his catch, Baron informs him of what he believes to be signs of the Priest's host and accompaniment. They settle down in a hut, and savagely feast on the catfish as night rides his steed across the sky. After discarding the bony remains of the meal, they set the trail ablaze.
To their dismay, they are once again met with danger and possible stomach cramps. A particularly pissy Vine Horror decides it doesn't like these adventurer-types coming in on it's turf. So it moves the turf to kill them. But ha! Julius and Baron are too clever for the old bugger, dispatching it promptly with a few spells slung and some axes chucked.
